I Am Royally Pissed Off At My Favorite Blanket

Now, to be fair, this is just one of my favorite blankets. I have many. However, if there was one blanket I wish I had more of, it would be this one.

Let me tell you what I love about this blanket:

  • It is light as hell. Now, I am happily a weighted blanket user (15-lbs and cooling, icy cold cooling, even in the winter, I love it), but this pink blanket is lighter than a feather. I bet if I weighed it, it would weigh no more than 6 oz. Maybe even less. It feels less heavy than the lollipop packages I send every month, and those are normally 4 oz.
  • You know how sometimes you want to be covered, but you’re still hot? This blanket to the rescue! It fits that “cover my skin, but don’t make me hot” thing that I need sometimes.
  • However, when I’m cold and there’s no other blanket nearby, somehow this blanket has secret technology that warms me to the correct, not overhot, temperature. It’s magic, I think.
  • It is so soft and cuddly, but not one bit itchy or weird textured.
  • It packs into a thin slice, making it a staple on all my trips.
  • It is stretchy, so it can cover exactly as much of me as I need it to.
  • It’s a lovely shade of pink.
  • It washes beautifully

Now, I should also be clear that I am not angry at the blanket per se, just the company that makes/sells it. And yes, I am about to call them out.

Soft Serve Clothing (I linked to their site, but I do not recommend buying from them. keep reading and this will make sense) is a company I stalked online for a few months before feeling comfortable enough in my finances to purchase something. I waited until they had a mystery bag promotion and grabbed that and a “cloud hoodie” and happily awaited my order.

When it arrived, I was thrilled. My greyish blue cloud hoodie was like an inside-out sweatshirt and the texture was a literal dream. I still wear it on the regular for comfort (and yard work in the wintertime). I cannot express enough how the texture on this hoodie was the exact Golidlocks just right.

In my mystery bag, I received two pairs of shorts, which are cozy and perfect for those transitional months. One pair was purple and the other grey, and they fit my hips and weren’t too long, and weren’t too short. Also, every single item of clothing that I received was so well-made. Just a dreamy package to arrive, you know?

The final thing I received was this blanket that I will probably never stop loving, even though I am very mad at the company.

Now, when I originally bought all this stuff, I was living in Florida, so I had little to no need for cold-weather clothing. When I moved to Michigan, though, one of the first things I did was place a $100 order with Soft Serve clothing.

I ordered another blanket so Mickey could experience the magic as well, another soft, warm hoodie for myself, and the thing I was most excited about: a purple cardigan made from this same magical blanket material.

I couldn’t wait for them to arrive.

Bad news, though:

It’s been almost 3 years now… and my package from Soft Serve Clothing has not arrived.

Have I contacted them?

Yes, probably about once a month since my order hasn’t arrived.

Have I asked them for a refund?

No! I really want the STUFF.

And here’s what makes me the most mad about all of this:

I keep getting ads in my email from them… advertising the things that I ordered but haven’t received.

I reply to an email ad and get caught in a bot loop.

So after about a year of this frustrating experience, I did a Google and saw that I wasn’t the only one dealing with a Soft Serve Clothing Scam.

But it also seems like bunches of folks are in the same boat as me… they want the stuff! Not the refund.

So what the heck is this company doing anyway? Like, just taking money and not making stuff? I HATE IT. I hate where the world is now.

I don’t want to be in love with products from a company that is just a scam now.

So, my repeated (and sometimes comically unhinged) emails haven’t worked, and I’m not the only one waiting on products for almost 3 years, so I wrote a blog to see if that got their attention.

Look, I know it is dumb of me to wait this long for something that is obviously never coming. I got scammed by Soft Serve Clothing, and I’m really salty about it.

Here’s the thing, though… if a box showed up on my doorstep from Soft Serve Clothing with my hoodie, blanket, and cardigan, I’d be fucking thrilled.

As long as everyone else who is waiting got their stuff, too, you know?
