What I’m listening to:
Did I cry?

Nope, but this book isn’t really sad anymore.

Thoughts while reading (could be about the book, could not):

Okay, so about that asterisk above. In our last batch of ouid, we received a few seeds. My gladiolouses are blooming crazy (see below) and I transplanted tomato plants I grew from seed just the other week and they are still alive. I even put a sideways window frame in the ground nearby to give them something to climb on.

Oh, and my elephant ears (Debbie and Frieda, tyvm) are doing fantastically, after the smaller of the two had its first ear Mike Tyson-ed.

What I’m saying is… I am feeling confident in my gardening skills at the moment. So I planted these seeds. Two of them have sprouted already and look healthy as hell. I really hope they are the right sex to give me little buddies.

This feels like a more appropriate thing to hold a gender reveal party for than a human’s gender, doesn’t it?

Hmm, I’m trying to think of the most appropriate way to do this would be. Cake seems played out and so does those smoke bomb thingies.

Popping balloons scares some people. Like, something with glitter would be fun, if I didn’t have to clean it up.

Oooh, wait. Maybe something with bubbles. I think there’s something there. I’ll pray on it.

I’ve read the chapter already and this book is a doozy. I don’t hate anyone; I don’t love anyone and I think it’s supposed to be that way, These characters are so human it hurts.

And for some of them, it really hurts. I think I would put this near the top of my list for introducing Maeve Binchy to new readers. It’s gripping the whole way through so far.

Also, something odd (for me) has happened. I am rooting on a romance. Well, hell, TWO! Maeve is excellent at creating characters that feel right for each other. It’s so warm and comfortable.

Ugh, I love it. I wish there were more writers like her.

New birds heard:

None, the front porch is tdn (too dang noisy)

Did I cry?

naw, dawg

Thoughts while reading:

Today was a fabulous day so far. I still feel all guilty when things are good and happy and I feel content and loved because I am worried for the vbt (very bad thing) to happen that will upset it all.

But enough on that sad thought – let’s focus on the fabulousness instead.

First off, I rode my tricycle to and from ceramics today. The ride was so lovely on the way there that I took the long way home. You can see both rides on my TikTok (ValleyOfOh).

At ceramics, I didn’t have to think about anything other than what color to paint the tiny things I am currently working on. It was lovely. And good for my brain, I think.

And then when I got home, I heated up some leftover mushroom soup from yesterday and spent a full hour reading the Emmy nominations. I mean, I read all of them. Even the ones for commercials.

Then Mickey brought home a burrito that his coworker sells every two weeks. They are definitely the best (and neatest!) burritos I have ever eaten. I love burrito day.

Now I am reading. brb (remember: not birb related)

Look. I know I’ve said this about a couple Maeve Binchy books, but this one, more than any other and I mean that to include my absolute favorites… This one needs to be a limited series.

It’s already broken into episodes. As many chapters as there are in this book – that’s how many episodes of the show there will be. I’m thinking 10 or 12, based on the rate of chaptering that’s currently happening. I can create a cast list and write it up myself I think. No problem.

That feels like a project for next year, maybe? Then I’ll just have to figure out the next steps of, like, selling it or whatever. Do I need the rights first?

I mean, EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER ends on the juiciest cliffhanger. And I really don’t want to talk too much else about what happens in it, because I want to you wait for my future-Emmy-award-winning Limited TV Series starring non-famous people and watch it all unfold instead.

Okay, bye now.

New Birds Heard

None right now, but I heard a Northern Cardinal earlier.

What I’m Listening To
Did I cry?

NO

Thoughts while reading:

It’s P-Valley Book Club Sunday, Y’allllllllll. That means I am clearing my brain by taking a trip to Ireland in my brain while my booty bounces to Lil Murda and crew.

brb reading (no birbs involved)

Ok, but fuck, there was just a birb involved. I was sitting here, reading my Irish book and then I watched a bird fly into my open garage door.

At first my brain said, no, there is no way that happened and hey you don’t even see a birb anyways.

But then you did and it was on your tricycle!

And then it was in the window, looking longingly outside, so I yelled, “Hey, bro! Turn around and look this way!’

This caused the birb to panic and try to escape out of the plastic window. It was a terrible sound and I keep hearing it still.

So I was like, “Dood, turn around!” and “Hey, birb! This way!” and every time it panicked.

So then I marched around to the other side of the garage, kindle in hand, I started knocking on the wall a few feet away from the window in the hopes that I wouldn’t have a front-row seat to this birb’s panic.

I was not so lucky. I had to knock on the actual window a few times before it finally turned around and flew out of the open garage door, free.

I sprinted back around and immediately closed the door.

My heart is still beating so fast.

New birbs heard:

you can’t expect me to talk about birbs right now
