What I’m listening to:
Did I cry?

Yes, twice (like in the most recent episode of P-Valley). Once at a declaration of love and once at a good bye.

Oddly enough, exactly like the most recent episode of P-Valley. Wild.

Thoughts while reading (could be about the book, could not):

A few things:

  1. Is this the first non-soundtrack playlist I’ve listened to while doing this all year? I think it might be. I discovered him when I was listening to some other random playlist the other day, made a note to listen to just him today and haven’t listened to anything else sense. So I’m going with it, ya’ll. It’s a vibe.
  2. I don’t know if I have ever said this before, but my brain is telling me to say it now. Whenever I get ready to go outside and read, I gather all of my supplies. It’s normally a chair and table and what I call my “technology stack”. That includes my ipad (for birding and typing my thoughts in this blog), my phone (for time-lapsing, my Tracy phone (a veryold phone we use for Spotify purposes, so that I can switch songs without having to use another device), my lil red speaker (to hear the tunes on), and, of course, my kindle (for reading). I just like the way the phrase “technology stack” sounds and feels to say. Please try it and let me know if you experience the same.
  3. Look, I don’t remember what happened in chapter 8 except a bird flew in our garage and panicked (read last week’s entry for more info on that, plz), so bear with me as I try to figure out wtf is going on in this chapter.
  4. I got chilly so I had to go in and get a light sweater. It is the middle of July.
  5. I have been learning Irish/Gaelic on DuoLingo for 23 days now and today is the first time I randomly encountered an Irish word in this book that I was able to translate! Feeling very chuffed right now.
  6. Ok, yes this book NEEDS an adaptation. It is screaming for it. It would be so juicy, but like in a wholesome-ish way? I can’t explain it, but y’all.
  7. There is a weird phenomenon where cars or trucks drive by playing, like, Latin American cowboy music (it’s a bop) and when they drive around the curves in either direction… it sounds like it is slowing down. My brain can’t wrap itself around this concept. It hasn’t happened for any other genres of music yet. But then again, I haven’t heard a polka. I feel like it would also happen with a polka.
  8. Okay, so we said goodbye to a character I wasn’t expecting to say goodbye to at all. And it was sad, but there was a lot of understanding involved from the right people.
  9. Here are some things I’m predicting (or remembering from the recesses of the card catalogue in my brain) that will happed: someone will fall in actual love, someone will get pregnant, and, of course: watery death.
  10. I dunno why I kept going with the list thing, but here we are.
  11. Oh, also, Mickey is still coming home full of stories about work. And with a happy face for the most part. So much so I started taking notes about his days. I really think there’s a sitcom there and I’m really surprised there hasn’t been on that’s set in this environment (Mickey’s new facility/department) yet.
  12. I still love writing for Only In Your State, because I truly love living here. There are so many places I love and so many places I am discovering for myself.
  13. Okay, 13 is a good number to end on. Bye now.

I grew this.

New birds heard:

None, the front porch is tdn (too dang noisy)

Not this time, bro

Thoughts while reading:

Words follow photo

Hello, today I got paid money to write about one of my favorite dessert shops in Detroit, so that made me very happy. Seriously, if you come visit me there is a progression to where I will take you.

It includes Mugly’s, Third Man, Bon Bon Bon, and then Heidelberg, and either the German or Polish restaurant. And then maybe Green Dot and Johnny Noodle King and then some museums and then maybe the zoo or the aquarium or maybe a beach for rock picking or downtown Wyandotte for cocktail/mocktail hopping.

Or a Tigers game for sure.

I love it here so much.

I’m ready to see/remember where this book goes so I’m gonna get right into reading today. I am in the back and yes, the garage door is firmly closed.

Okay, brb. (hopefully never birb related again.)

Full disclosure, I keep getting distracted by pretty clouds and good songs and this one sunflower/black-eyed susan flower that looks near-perfect.

I’ma try and get a photo of it, plz hold.

It is there in the middle, standing up all proud. Oh, and also, I don’t think I will finish this chapter tonight because it is very long.

And also my brain keeps wandering off to thinking about this, erm, full-length erotica thing that won’t shut up in my brain.

Gotta write it I guess.

I’ll finish this chapter – and I think this book in my next session.

Yeah, it’s still good.

New Birds Heard

None. My music was too loud, sis.

Wait… NO! At the last minute we had a barn swallow, which I haven’t heard in a hot minute. We’re counting it!
