My Year of Binchy – Week 43: Bathtime?!

Here is a list on Bookshop.org with all the Maeve Binchy books I’ve read all year.

  • Location: Back yard. It is gorgoeous.
  • Smoking: A lil doinker
What I’m listening to:
Did I cry?

Yes. Muttie planned a surprise for the twins.

Thoughts while reading (could be about the book, could not):

Some housekeeping.

  1. I have been having a really hard time finding, uh, time to read lately. Not because I am wading through some sort of unnamed depression, which is what happened most of the other times this year I had a hard time, uh, making time to read. Now, I find myself doing other things I love. I started tap on Wednesday nights, a common reading time. I’ve been making suckers again. And then art projects of some sort each month for my Founding Suckers. I know how important taking the time to escape into a book is for my brain health, though. So I’m still making a big effort to read.
  2. As I type, one of my clients is going into a meeting that could realistically be life-changing for all of us. It would mean more exposure for these products that I have come to know and love, which leads to more customers who get to feel better about themselves. I really hope it comes to fruition and would love y’all’s good vibes to that end. I am listenting to Leftovers 1+2+3 for good luck. I was obsessed with this show when I started working with them, so it feels like the right thing to do.

Okay, now I’m gonna go fall in love with Muttie and Lizzie and Maude and Simon all over again. And listen for birds.

And enjoy this freakcing gorgeous autumn weather.

I am not doing well at concentrating today. I just want to know what is going on at the meeting!!

I think I love Maude and Simon so much because they are as curious as my brain is, minus any of the shame about speaking that curiousity aloud that I learned when I was their age. They have a need to know things deeply and because of this, they are excellent at piecing things together.

I would watch a kids show about these two. IDK how it would work, but I’d watch it.

Sometimes it takes me a long time to read notsomany pages because the weather is so beautiful it feels fake and so I just bask in it. I sit here and look at the trees and bricks and shingles that make up this ridiculous place I got to go to sleep in every night. And I remember how lucky I am.

Now I just gotta sell a book, so Mickey can enjoy this same sort of baskiness that I do as well. I know it’s hard to find when you’re caught up in working for someone else whose goals and ideals don’t align with your own.

For the first time in my life, with open eyes, I can say that I do and holy fuck does that feel weird and good.

New birds heard:

Hairy Woodpecker! Sounds kind of naughty.

Common Yellowthroat. See above.

What I’m listening to:
Did I cry?

No!

Thoughts while reading (could be about the book, could not):

This is the part of the book where I get angry.

It was difficult to get too angry, though. My bath is pretty relaxing.

I didn’t take any notes. I just read.

New birds heard:

None… I was in the bath?
