Severance – S2E1 (AppleTV+)
First off, that opening sequence left me BREATHLESS. It was so exciting and I want to watch a behind the scenes about it immediately.
And then Alia Shawkat showed up as a new team member — I was stoked!

Okay, so here are some questions I have:
- Is that really Helly R? Or is it Helena pretending to be an innie?
- Is Ms. Huang a wee baby clone of Miss Casey?
- Or is Miss Huang somehow the child of Mark and Gemma?
- How great is the episode where we get to see the “playful mirror room” gonna be?
- Where the fuck is PE? That’s not a state abbreviation I’m familiar with!
- What’s the deal with triangles? They pop up quite frequently and now I can’t stop noticing them.
Also, Keanu Reeves voiced the, uh, voice of the building… but did you recognize the voice of the water tower?!
Sarah Sherman!!
The Traitors – S3E4 (Peacock)
First off, protect Carolyn at all costs. I love her and need her to stay the entire competition.
I think Rob’s move at the table was dumb and it’s not gonna serve him well.
My favorite part of the show is when everyone arrives to breakfast in the morning.
What a fashion show!
Abbott Elementary – S4E11 (Hulu)
Another solid entry from the team.
High Potential – S1E10 (Hulu)
See above. (Also, I watched/wrote about a lot, so some of these entries are short, y’all.)
SNL – Dave Chappelle/GloRilla (Peacock)
Funniest Weekend Update in a hot minute – and they are always funny to me, so that just means they were extra great this week!

SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night (Peacock)
I’ve been watching this show since the 80s, so I adored this. The first episode was my favorite – it was all origin stories. We got to see so many auditions and watch while some former cast members rewatched their auditions for the first time in a long time. Some of it got quite emotional.
Each episode was worth the watch.
- Origin stories
- A week inside the writer’s room (it was an Ayo Edebiri week)
- The cowbell episode
- The weird year (season 11)
I honestly wish there were more!
Search Party – rewatch (MAX)
Yes, I am rewatching this for one reason and one reason only: Cole Escola in season 4. I know I could just watch season 4, but it doesn’t hit the same if I don’t get all the ridiculous build-up.
Plus, if I didn’t start over at the beginning, how else would I know that they lay out the entire final season in one of the final episodes of Season 1?
The writing on this show is so tight, y’all.
The Simpsons (Disney +)
We watched no more than two episodes of this, and it’s fine. Nothing to note.
Pop Culture Jeopardy (Amazon Prime)
You know what else I love about this show? How snarky Colin Jost is to his bosses at Amazon.
Australian TV (Or Dropout TV)
Australian Survivor Heroes vs. Villains
Our schedules have been all wonky. So, we didn’t spend time with George, Simon, and Jonathan this week.
Very Important People (Dropout TV)
We are caught up to this show in real time. I wish there was always a new episode, but alas, the cast and crew do have lives outside of this television show.
I think Vic Michaelis might be my favorite interviewer after Sean Evans of Hot Ones fame.
Nobody Asked (Dropout TV)
This show is like Mythbusters lite. I dig it.
My favorite episode so far was when they tried to make Roombas have sex. I can’t believe how into it I got!
Movies
ANNOUNCEMENT
I got all paranoid that these posts were getting too long, so I wrote separate reviews of some movies this week.

Save Yourselves! (MAX)
I was looking for a break from all my heavy Awards Season movies. You know, looking for something mindless that I could just turn off my brain and enjoy.
This movie was not it. It was great, though! We put it on because it has John Paul Reynolds (who will always be Drew from Search Party to me) and Sunita Mathi (who will always be the girl from theTurn Down for What?! music video for me, which was directed by The Daniels, who later made Everything Everywhere All At Once).
Here’s the description:
A young Brooklyn couple head to an upstate cabin to unplug from their phones and reconnect with each other. Blissfully unaware of their surroundings, they are left to their own devices as the planet falls under attack.
It’s an alien invasion story but not action-y and not straight comedy either. It’s a certified bop, imho.

The first half of this movie was FANTASTIC, y’all. Then it kind of went all woobly at the end.
Hugh Grant was astonishingly creepy in this role, and I hope he continues down this spoopy path. I think it will suit him well.
Hot Tub Time Machine Parts 1-Unedited & 2 (MAX)
This was the mindless entertainment I was looking for. I guess I just can’t get enough of Adam Scott with Severance and all that.
