Severance – S2E3 (AppleTV+)
Okay, so I have been thinking a lot about Dylan’s job interview from the previous episode. I think the interviewer might be another older version of Dylan.
There is definitely a clone/ consciousness switch/manipulation thing going on.
I don’t have a lot to say this week – my brain has actually been having a lot of difficulty writing lately. It’s the hellscape of the world. Most of my good writing has been going to my Only in Your State pieces, so y’all have my apologies.
So here are my chaotic notes:
- Is Gemma another version of Mrs. Cobell?
- Or is Gemma Charlotte? (The medical bracelet in Mrs. Cobell’s house.)
- I think they are related somehow.
- Again, balloons mean something.
- Empty heads?
- Those paintings that Natalie gifted to Milkshake were bone-chilling.
- So many things were said with so few words in that scene.
- Why is Devon with Ricken? She doesn’t seem into him one bit at all.
- Salt’s Neck is 238 miles away from where Mrs. Cobell was.
- Salt’s Neck is not a real place.
- Mamilians Nuturables
- Hmmm
- Visitation event.
- Merritt Wever!
- Is she dressed like Pam from The Office on purpose? Or is this just a red herring for the fans?
- This coincidence (?) makes me wonder if Milkshake’s motorcycle vibe is a call back to some other piece of media that I am not familiar with.
- Exports hall? What is that?
I can’t wait for this week!!!!!!
The Traitors – S3E6 (Peacock)
- I hate Danielle and Rob as Traitors so much.
- Gabby’s fashion is impeccable.
- OH NO, BOB H. What a dumb move.
- I hate Boston Rob. He is so selfish as a player.
- I really want Carolyn to win. She is such a wild card and I think that works great for this show.
- I like the way Alan Cumming says “murder.”
- This challenge feels very ‘Mole’-ish.
- Yes, a Carolyn and Gabby team up!
- Do I …like Tom Sandoval?
- If they don’t get rid of Rob or Danielle, they are idiots.
- Tom Sandoval is a mess.
- I am kind of bored at this season.
- Carolyn remains my favorite.
- I hate it here though. I hate who stayed.

Search Party – rewatch (MAX)
Iconic wedding fashion in Season 3.
I made it to season 4, the whole reason I’m rewatching this show. It’s worth it.
Cole Escola is perfect. I remember the first time I watched this show in the midst of quarantine. Mickey was overseas for work, and I was very alone for very long stretches of time. The isolation that Chip Wreck (Cole’s character) puts Dory through really hit home.
I remember watching Escola’s brilliant performance and thinking, “This kid is a true star. Like they were destined to be nothing else. They are a performer, and they are incredible at it. I can’t wait to watch their career.”
An obsession was born.
Now Cole Escola has written (and just stopped starring in) “Oh, Mary!” on Broadway, and I’ve never wanted to see a show more.
Another thing I love about this show this late in its run is how ridiculous the last names are! “Greg Carrots” kills me every time.
Abbott Elementary (Hulu)
The only note I took for this week’s episode was “glazed bagel.”
It was a fun episode. They always are.
High Potential (Hulu)
Kaitlyn Olson and Judy Reyes have incredible chemistry.
Loved seeing Nasim Pedrad in this episode!
Pop Culture Jeopardy (Amazon Prime)
Okay, the first round is done and now we’re narrowing it down to a champion team!
Game Changer (Dropout TV)
I still can’t believe this game show made me cry.
Very Important People (Dropout TV)
When I saw that this week’s guest was Zac Oyama, I yelped! His Tommy Shriggly was one of my favorite episodes from the first season. He’s just such a fearless improviser. He reminds me of both halves of my favorite Sak Comedy Lab improv team of all time: Dan Francisco.

Independent Spirit Award Nominees: Best New Scripted Series
Before I even watched all the episodes in this category, I was pretty sure I would vote for English Teacher. And that opinion did not change.
I do want to watch full series runs on most of these, though:
- Baby Reindeer (Netflix)
- Episode 1: I get all the hype. This looks electric.
- Diarra from Detroit (BET+)
- Episode 1: A certified bop. Looks like a fun show.
- English Teacher (Hulu)
- Episode 2: This was the episode I would have chosen, too.
- Fantasmas (Max)
- Episode 3: I didn’t know what to expect from this show at all, but I fell in love with its surreal weirdness immediately. I will be watching this show in full once I finish this rewatch of Search Party.
- Shogun (Hulu)
- Episode 1: Classic drama
Movies
A Complete Unknown (MJR Theaters)
Read my review here.
Babygirl -Rewatch (VOD)
I watched the entire rave scene without looking away and I am so proud of myself.
Nosferatu (VOD)
I’ll be watching this again to do a more detailed, focused review. This instantly shot into my top ten of the “Awards Season.” So many scenes got me horny for movies again.
Lily-Rose Depp
The Fire Inside (Film Independent Membership)

Sweethearts (MAX)
Here are my thoughts as I watch:
- I am watching this because of lil Sally Draper (Kiernan Shipka.)
- Opening with a montage is strong.
- I just ordered a pizza with sliced meatballs and mushrooms.
- Fake phone sex, lol.
- Big fan of this dialogue.
- I bet this hit so hard for the young generations. I love it.
- I love watching a new generation discover its cinematic voice. I love origin stories, and this is a HUGE one.
- Shipka is an effortless actress.
- The ADR is a bit obvious to me. I hate that.
- Jane Wickline! If I knew she was in this, I would have watched earlier.
- Okay, why didn’t she shower?
- You know what? I’m gonna go ahead and say this – This movie is a certified bop.
- This bus scene is great. The breakup practice! The rando stranger!
- Was this filmed at my high school?
- Okay, no. It was filmed in New Jersey, not Georgia.
- Christine Taylor!!!!!!!!
- Okay, I feel like Christine Taylor’s role in Seach Party was practice for this movie. I feel like this is just another version of Gail!
- MILKSHAKE (this will make sense if you watch Severance)
- This is an adorable movie.
- This Milkshake scene is so moving. I didn’t expect to be crying?
- I will be mad if the two main characters get together, though.
- God, young people need movies like this.
You’re Cordially Invited (Prime)
This was fine. About what you’d expect. Standout for me was Leanne Morgan, who I think we saw do standup one time. I don’t know why else she is familiar to me.

Your Monster (Prime)
I was cleansing my awards movie brains with mindless romcoms. This one, though. This was a spark of magic.
More than a Beauty and the Beast rehash, that had heart and legs. Hmm, all the body parts, I guess.
