The Righteous Gemstones S4E1 (Max)
What a piece of art for a first episode. This could be a short film on its own, from the cinematograpy to the direction to the music to the writing and mostly, to the performance.
Reminder: When I fall in love with a character, it is not necessarily believing that the character in question is a good person that I would like to be friends with, just appreciating the creation and execution of a multi-layered, well fleshed out character.
The Righteous Gemstones has this in spades, y’all.

None so much so as the creation of a Gemstone-specific accent. Bradley Cooper showed us the origin of this accent in an incredible way. It wasn’t an imitation or a caricature, this was a character study of the person who is the reason the family is the way it is now.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I know there were more people being equally shitty in the Gemstone family pre-Civil War… and maybe we’ll learn about them, too!
Wouldn’t it be some shit if this whole final season was just backstory about how this family got to be where they are? I’d watch it.
Hell, I’d watch that for almost any character I love, if we’re being honest.
All this said, it was a ballsy as hell way to open the final season of a well-loved show. Thanks, showrunners, for trusting your audience.
Severance – S2E8 (AppleTV+)
Okay is this show trying to win all the Emmys all at once?! Jesus.
Between Dichen Lachmen last week and Patricia Arquette this week and all the fellas, I think there HAS to be a Severance sweep in the Drama acting categories at the Emmys this year. And if you’re wondering my pick for Best Supporting Actor… It is 100% Zach Cherry, y’all. I love what he is doing with Dylan and has done on so many other shows that I love like Succession, Fallout, Search Party, and, like, three different parts in the Marvel cinematic universe, if my score-keeping is correct.
I loved this episode. It, again, like the previous episode, answered a lot of questions, but then also gave us so many more. I was in LOVE with the filming location, as well. It looks so crisp and cold and industrial, which I am really drawn to.
I love that we found more information about the Wintertide program that Ms. Huang is part of.
It is also an interesting choice for the show to give us two weeks of space from the main characters and the main action. Obviously it is intentional and I am curious to see why. Looks like we’re getting back to it next week.
I still think there is something to Burt’s hubby being played by two different actors, but we’ll see.
The Traitors – S3E11 (Peacock)
Pretty much as long as Danielle doesn’t win, I’ll be happy. Bonus points if Gabby wins! IDK why this show gets a live reaction every week instead of, like, a normal paragraph.
- Oh thank goodness, now I can enjoy the finale.
- Also, I know there is a reunion, but Danielle is the reason I do not care to watch it. She was such a fake bully.
- Gabby is so sweet, comforting Britney.
- Who is the Seer?! Britney – boring.
- “The way you carried on and convulsed on the floor!” – Dolores
- I hope Gabby doesn’t become collateral damage. I think she’s played a real human game, that has been pretty positive, as far as I can recall.
- I miss Carolyn and Tom Sandoval, y’all.
- We’re at $166k at this point.
- I feel like Dylan has played a real human, nice game as well.
- “I’m Johnny No Mates” -Ivar
- Okay, this challenge looks like a treat and I don’t even like driving.
- I would love to dangle under a helicopter.
- I hope Britney goes home and not Dylan.
- Woohoo, that is what happened!
- I think Gabby must have won, because she and her girlfriend did get married recently.
- Okay, all the faithfuls ended the game and they all won. I love this. I hated the way most of this was played, but not the way the winners played.
The White Lotus – S3E3 (MAX)
This one deserves it’s own post, so here it is. Prolly won’t be up til later today, though. Or Wednesday.
Mythic Quest S4E7 (AppleTV+)
This show makes me laugh harder than any other, but it also can rip my heart straight out of it’s chest, which is what it did this week.
I find myself in a weird spot where I look forward to next week’s episode, but I am also afraid of what it may bring.
Abbott Elementary (Hulu)
I would read The Sassy Wizard Kid.
Pop Culture Jeopardy (Amazon Prime)
I was meh on the winners.
Australian Survivor Season 12: Brains vs. Brawn 2 E7-9
Me and Logan are still watching and talking. Listen to us talk about it here. There were two mind-blowing challenges this week and one of them was among the most diabolical I’ve seen.
Dimension 20: Fantasy High (Dropout TV)
I can’t believe I am so into this. This is so magical, y’all. We have started their Sophomore Year, which takes place during Spring Break. This season is different from the previous one we watched in that it originally aired Live on Twitch. So there are no visual aids during the battles—it’s all imagination-based.
It’s not any less exciting.
I bought my first set of dice because of this show. And then also my second, third, fourth, and fifth because I am a sucker for mystery boxes.

Make Some Noise (Dropout TV)
The finale of this season was a banger. Noise Boys!
Movies

The Gutter (Hulu)
The bulk of the conflict in this movie could have been solved with a new ball.
It was still fun as hell, though.
