That Girl (Peacock)
We are done with Ann Marie and Donald Hollandaise and I have some feels to share.
First off, in some ways, this show was weirdly progressive. The final episode was all about getting Don to come to a Woman’s Lib meeting with Ann. They dealt with some big topics throughout the five seasons of this late-60s show.
One of which was cultural appropriation. And then the VERY NEXT EPISODE, Ann and/or Don (I can’t recall) went right ahead and culturally appropriated from another culture.
This happened a lot – championing for something one episode and then doing that exact same thing a few episodes later.
I had some hope at the beginning of season 5 for some continuity in the form of a season-long storyline, but that did not happen.
The fifth season in general felt different than the other four and I honestly think it wasn’t needed.
HOWEVER, the finale was something else.
It was a fucking clip show. Which made me angry at first, because it felt lazy.
But then I gave myself some perspective.
This show began in 1966. The finale aired in March of 1971.
Viewers didn’t have access to every episode ever to rewatch, nor did they even have syndicated reruns to get their Ann Marie fix. The show aired and if they weren’t watching while it was on television, they weren’t seeing it.
I bet viewers lost their shit at this finale. There was a loose storyline, in addition to the clip show, so there was new stuff too. However, I bet it made them all warm and fuzzy to see old clips of previous seasons.
And then I also think about how much work that must have been back then. It’s not like they had a searchable database to find clips after all!
All in all, I enjoyed this show. I’m glad I watched it. Not only did I learn a lot about the time period, but I learned a lot about Mickey’s young brain. He watched this when he still had a somewhat mushy brain, so That Girl helped shape him a lot.
What vintage show should we watch next? I am enjoying this journey.

Shoresy Season 3 (Hulu)
This show (and the show it spun off from Letterkenny) warms my heart and my brain so much.
I have such a talent crush on Jared Keeso, the creator of both shows. He can write a 6-episode season of a show that packs more emotion and drama than the shows that have way more episodes to play with.
The dialogue is fast, though, and it always takes my brain a bit to catch up.
It’s worth it, though.
Yeah, I love Shoresy. This show (and guy) have heart. The whole season (only 6 episodes) was fantastic and I already can’t wait for season 4.

The Acolyte (Disney+)
Two episodes into this, I had to look up who the showrunner was. Her name is Leslye Headland and she was also co-creator of one of the most incredible shows in the past ten years or so: Russian Doll.
The Acolyte is an excellent show. Normally, I have to settle into a Star War – unless it is one of the ones I grew up with. I have to take a bit of time to get to know and care about the characters. I need some time to figure out who sides with who and who I personally want to root for.
Not with this show, I was into immediately. And, oddly enough, part of what did it for me is the action in this movie.
On my P-Valley discussions with EngErotics, we somehow got on the topic of the John Wick movies. I said out loud, “I love the action in John Wick movies. It is easy for my brain to follow, where, like, the Marvel movies are so jumpy and disjointed by brain simply can’t keep up.”
Then I said something like, “Hey Hollywood, more movies with action sequences like John Wick please.”
And then a couple days later we started The Acolyte and my wish was granted. The action sequences are so good they brought tears to my eyes. The story kept me guessing the whole time – in an exciting way, not in an annoying way.
The acting is great, the sets and costumes are gorgeous to look at and it seems in general more colorful than most Star Wars properties. I mean actual bright colors in the costumes and set design – especially in the first few episodes.
I am looking forward to a season 2 and MORE PEOPLE WATCHING AND LOVING IT SO WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT! woo.
Top Chef (Peacock)
I guess I am rooting on Savannah, because I get excited when she wins and sad when she does bad.
That is my only feedback at the moment.
We are down to 5 chefs.
And then I watched an episode where they had to plate ON the table and it was pretty great.
Savannah is still here. woo.

Australian TV (Or Dropout TV)
Gods Of Food
This is a foodie show, but all the chefs featured are fictional. This is satire of the most biting variety and I need more people to watch this so that we can talk about it together. thank you. WOO.

Stick It
I’ve seen this a million times. I put it on in the background while I was deep cleaning the Princess TV room. It’s still good.
Except fucking Tim Dagget.
