Television
The Simpsons (Disney +)
It was a Simpsons-free week! (Mickey was out of town for work.)
Cross (Amazon Prime +)
I’m watching this one at the suggestion of my friend Eddie.
I went in completely blind aside from his suggestion and I’m glad I did, because I would have seen this description:
Alex Cross, a decorated D.C. homicide detective and forensic psychologist faces a sadistic serial killer; he and his partner, John Sampson track this killer and a threat from Cross’ past appears with ill intent.
It would have taken a lot more convincing to get my brain on board to watch it.
And I’m glad I did. It’s taut and well written and there is such a wide variety of characters.
I feel like I’m seeing a side of DC that I don’t typically see onscreen.
Aldis Hodge is spectacular as Alex Cross, too.
He is depicting the same character Morgan Freeman did in Kiss the Girls and Along Came A Spider.
If you are a serial killer girlie, you will enjoy the FUCK out of this.
This is another one I’d be telling Molls about.
Shrinking (AppleTV+)
I love the way this show makes me think.
I know I already think/talk about how my brain works A LOT. This show, though, this show makes me go even deeper.
In the best way. It gives me examples of language to use in certain situations and how to be gentle with myself and others. It reminds me of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in that way
Bad Sisters (AppleTV+)
I need one of those giant beach jackets/robes for stoop time.
I can’t even with how good this show is. I could easily binge it all in one go, but I am watching one episode per night as a little treat.
Also, I rather like take the time to turn the episode over in my head a bit to figure out where this could be going. It’s never where I think it is.
Is anyone else watching? It’s a near-perfect show for me.
The Big Door Prize (AppleTV+)
This show is fine. It has Lance from The Other Two in it, which is why I watched the first season. The second season is complete, so I’m doing a little rewatch and finish.
Pop Culture Jeopardy (Amazon Prime)
This is fun. There were three more episodes when Mickey got home and they were the first thing that we watched.
Colin, you are doing great.
The 1 Percent Club (Amazon Prime)
I think my brain might be temporarily broken. Once we were done with Pop Culture Jeopardy for the week, my brain wanted more game show action.
This is very out of character.
So we watched this. It’s not bad, but it is also brain hurty.
Just watch the first episode, see the first question, and then see that people got it wrong to understand what I mean by brain hurty.
But then it is also brain HAPPY because it helps both the people playing and the people watching to think critically.
Here is the description from the pros:
A survey of the nation’s intelligence through scientific questions testing brainpower, not school knowledge or memorization. The questions lead to entertaining answers.
I like making my brain work right now, I guess.
Aside from the show itself, we play a side game during each episode as well:
“Which one of the contestants has done / will do a murder one day?”
SNL (Peacock)
Solid episode. It feels like they are getting scared, though. I expected at least a full sketch with Emil or Marcello playing Luigi?
I dunno. I feel like this one could have gone harder.
Australian TV (Or Dropout TV)
Australian Survivor Heroes vs. Villains
Still on a break, but we’re back sooooon.
Um, Actually (DropoutTV)
I finished Dirty Laundry and am sad about it, so I started another random show!
This one is a game show, all about fandoms. The host (Mike Trapp) reads a statement and the contestants have to buzz in and correct him. The answers must all take the form of an “Um, Actually.”
It’s fun.
All of DropoutTV is fun.
Movies
The Fabulous Four (Paramount +)
This was bad. Do not watch it.
So much talent wasted.

Boy Kills World (Hulu)
Watch this one.
It’s a bop.
Here’s the description from the Pros:
A dystopian fever dream film that follows Boy, a deaf person with a vibrant imagination. When his family is murdered, he is trained by a mysterious shaman to become an instrument of death.
It’s got a lot of action scenes, but they are more John Wick than Marvel. The action is treated with care, as if it’s something the filmmakers want you to experience and not something that they want to rush through to get to the next scene.
I liked this way more than I was expecting.
Bonus: H. Jon Benjamin is the narrator.
