Look. It’s cold out, and the yard is kind of boring.
There is no snow. (As of this posting, that is a lie. I typed this up on Wednesday night and woke up to a blanket of snow this morning. I’m gonna save those for an All Snow Post later on.)
All of the trees are barren, The blue jays only screech occasionally (have only seen them once this week!) and the squirrels are mostly holed up.
So there’s not much exciting to show you, or even talk about, in our yard at the moment.
Here is a selection of squirrel pics from the last couple days:

The first squirrel is difficult to see in the small pic, but the squirrel is on the bottom left, looking out on the cold, cruel world. In the last pic, I am on the inside and the squirrel is on the outside, wondering why I am not out there feeding her nuts. (I’m fairly certain that’s Margo.)
Oh, also, I got a new camera over the weekend and I’ve been slowly learning how to use it, so y’all get the benefit of that in this picture-heavy blog. I am very excited to put it to use for all of my different business endeavours.
But now, I’m just taking pics of the nonsense at the Professor Haus. Like all this stained glass that I MADE that I ignore every day like it’s part of the scenery. Which, I guess, it is.

I haven’t done stained glass as much since I started doing ceramics, but I still have my bench area set up on my desk and a current half-finished project that I am working on. It’s a sunflower that fits in the corner of a window, and it is half-soldered. The front half, unless the back turns out amazing. Then I’ll flip it.
The stained glass pictured above was all done from lil kits, except for the abstract pastel thing. I did that with scrap glass I got from a couple different places. Aside from the cardinal and rose, it is my favorite piece I’ve made so far.
I have a lot of fear about the actual cutting of the glass, and that’s why I think I’m kind of stuck. I’ll get over it. It’ll all just happen one day.
What else do we have a lot of in our house? Tiny things! Look over almost any door jamb, and you’ll be greeted with something new. Here is a sample:

Okay so that last one isn’t tiny things exclusive, but you can see Safety Orange Snoopy there! The RHPS art is from an Orlando artist and the KKFOS art is from a local Downriver Michigan artist. I don’t recall who did the Eye-C art, but I am sure Mickey does and he can tell us in the comments.
I’m going in reverse-gallery order since I started at the end.
The Peppermint Snoopy is one of my favorite items I own. It represents a lot of things that folks associate me with: Candy, The White Stripes, and Snoopy.
The first two door jambs are in our kitchen right next to each other.
Notable items:
- Photograph of beer
- Hot Wheel Snoopy driving a dog house
- Underberg bottle
- Champagne cork
- Bit of a broken cutting board my papa made me
There is random stuff all over this house, y’all. Yes, including dust. This house is dsuty AF and I am terrible at doing actual dusting. Sometimes I think about grabbing a leaf blower and blasting the dust away, but that would also blast all the tiny things away.
So it’s probably not the best idea.
Speaking of random things., there are random collections of randomness all throughout the house. Some of the random things are on walls, and some are in windows. Others are on desks or shelves. Here are some of them:

I will start at the beginning of the gallery this time. There, you will see the back of my desk, featuring some very favorite things, including, but not limited to:
- The box from my Third Man Records headphones that I got over a decade ago from the kids. I think it will make a killer purse one day, so I keep holding onto it.
- A Snoopy book from my friend Stevie!
- Two measuring tapes for some reason
- The backs of the heads of my desk crew
- Bertram – he’s for business
- Larry the Pool Sloth – he’s for fun
- They both wear ballcaps, though
The next pic is more of the back of my desk, which includes a variety of art from a variety of humans, including me!
Then you will see the area around the dimmable light switch in my office. I rarely use this because I do not enjoy the big light for the most part. Atop is a postcard from A24 featuring Coleman Domingo in his latest film Sing Sing, which he is sure to get an Oscar nod for. Below is an art print by one of my favorite humans on the planet, who also makes some of my favorite bath products in history. In my last order, I got “My Job is Beach” salt spray and the “Siren Song” hair gel. It should arrive today!!!!
And below that, you will see our thermostat. It is below freezing outside, y’all, and it’s still warmer than our indoor low. I ADORE our radiant heat, y’all. Or else, it’s just that ghostie I painted protecting our indoor climate.
Or the audio cassette version of The Maxx.
Another thing we have a lot of in the Professor Haus is windows. Here are some of them:

The first two photos are frames we made with sticks from our yard. The first one is from last year, filled with dried bits of leaves and flowers that we grew last year.
We were… not as vigilant with our 2024 frame, y’all. But we do have a good sized box of flower petals sitting on top one of our radiators for future crafting.
The third pic is the kind of hard gang Snoopys (they are the ones that are stuffie-looking but also sing and dance) looking out the window on the Moon Landing. See? We have a double staircase in our house and it meets on a landing that has another set of stairs leading up to our second floor. I put a circular rug that looks like the moon there, and every time I step on it, I yell, “Moon landing!” The Snoopys are just watching the world go by.
Okay, I’ve been babbling long enough so I’ll leave you with one more pic:

This is in our kitchen. The wine label art is something I made from a paint by number many years ago.
The lovely piece of art with the woman sipping coffee while her doggo tries to get her attention is by my friend Jasmine. There is something I find to be very calming about it.
Above that is a compass that probably doesn’t work. For some reason, I break all compasses.
And above the probably broken compass is a perler art thingie from our friend Alison. It just showed up in the middle of quarantine one day and has brightened our days ever since.
So, there you have it. A tour of a whole bunch of nonsense we have in the Professor Haus.
I also took some pics of certain bookshelves, but I feel like the books require a tour of their own.
What do you think?

We have many things from them (mostly stuffies).
