Blarf, Stumble, Brilliant Things (Things I Loved: May 2026)

Blarf, "Film Scores for Films that Don’t Exist" (Spotify) On Fridays when I take a bath, I like to go through a list of albums that came out that day and find one with a name that jives with my brain and listen to it… with as little research as…

Presidents, Peace & Passion: Canton, Ohio (Day 4)

Tonight is my last night in Canton, y’all. I have two more things to do tomorrow before my driver comes to, uh, drive me home in the afternoon: trolls and pizza. I am very much looking forward to both, but I don’t have time for that now. I have to…

I Am Actively In Love with My Potato Brush

This past weekend was Valentine's Day, and I'm not a very mushy person. I guess used to be... in like middle and high school, when I was still buying into all that crap. And I guess when I got married the first time, I was kind of romantic. Now, though?…

I Wanted Nachos, So I Made Them

Backup title: Fuck the holidays. Not in, like, a “I hate my life, and everything is terrible” kind of way. (Although things might get shaken up at the Professor Haus in an unexpected way pretty soon). There are a lot of things I love about my life. Way more than…

Mudgie’s in Detroit: Enough About that Sandwich; Let’s Talk About the Pie (and the wine!)

So, last week I got an assignment from OnlyInYourState.com to find an incredible Leftover Thanksgiving Sandwich and write about it. So I started searching… and searching… and, y’all, I couldn’t find a damn thing. Like, I knew these hearty sandwiches were likely seasonal specials, but why wasn’t anyone advertising them?…

Meet My Yard: My Favorite Thing To Cook Right Now

I’m neurodivergent. That means I often get food obsessions. I think there might be another word for it (aside from autism), but I’m talking about the thing where you eat one food for a long time until one day it doesn’t taste right anymore, and you can’t eat it again…
